The Fable – Ventongimps

Introduction

The Fable Cottage

We adore The Fable, it excels in every area, offering a particularly standout dog friendly stay in Cornwall; it’s an absolute countryside haven where timeless luxury meets rural life in the form of an inimitably charming and cosy thatched cottage. Tucked away up a tiny well-trodden track, surrounded by quintessential rose gardens, it’s set in the pretty rural village of Ventongimps, three-miles from the expansive sands of Perranporth Beach in north Cornwall.

The quaint property has been designed by luxury lifestyle brand, The White Company for their first ever immersive holiday cottage experience, making it a special experience for you and your four-legged friends to enjoy together.

With its hideaway essence and a beautiful garden, as well as close proximity to the coast, The Fable is a space that puts you entirely at ease from the moment you enter; immersed in nature with every little luxury considered – a place to simply hunker down with your dog at your side and enjoy the peace and quiet in beautiful surrounds.

The Fable provides an all-immersive White Company private home experience with everything from the brand’s natural-blend bed linens to signature candles and scents, quality tableware and the much-loved fluffy robes and classic furnishings. Interior schemes been carefully curated, resulting in a unique dog friendly holiday experience where you and your four-legged friend get to live the brand’s distinct style form the moment you step inside.

All about simple luxury,  The Fable has a warm and inviting farmhouse feel whereby the kitchen is the heart of the home, surrounded by a charming cottage garden, complete with a hot tub that ensures you get to enjoy the setting. There’s a spacious boot room with direct access to the garden – the perfect area to wipe clean muddy paws and prepare four-legged dinners. You will also find a cosy dog’s bed, bowl, treats and towels left for your pal’s use.

Simple cosy and calming, The Fable affords guests the best of both worlds, providing an undeniably dreamy bolthole to unwind, and leave feeling rejuvenated.

Where to walk

Spectacular walks can be enjoyed from the doorstep, along the delightful countryside lanes, where hedges brim with wildflowers, and streams gently flow. Venture out and you will find white sandy beaches of Perranporth and Holywell Bay just ten-minutes’ drive away.

It’s a short 15-minute drive to St Agnes, a picturesque spot to visit with a gorgeous beach at bottom of the winding hill – dog friendly all year round, it’s perfect for walking and splashing in the rockpools with your pals. When visiting, we love to pop into The Sorting Office, a cute little dog-welcoming café, serving delicious freshly made bagels, cakes, pastries, smoothies and specialty coffee.

There’s also Crantock Beach, located 15-minutes’ drive away, where you can take your friends for a salt-fresh stretch, with the River Gannel running through the sands. Further around the headland, we also love Pentire for 360 coastal views, dog-friendly Fistral Beach and the two mile expanse at Watergate Bay – the latter about half an hour’s drive away.

We can also recommend Healeys Cyder Farm which is just five-minutes’ drive away – it’s very dog friendly, and a great place to stock up on Cornish cider, along with locally-made wines, spirits, juices, relishes and jams.

Dine with your dog

Fox’s Revenge is our absolute go-to when in the area, well worth the 25-minute drive from The Fable. An award-winning dog friendly pub and restaurant, set in the beautiful Cornish countryside, it ticks all the boxes for a lengthy lunch or supper. It’s the perfect spot for a glass of wine by the fire after a blustery beach walk, or something refreshing in the pretty courtyard out front. Expect pub classics with a twist, focussing on quality Cornish produce that is simply cooked to enhance nature flavours within the seasonal dishes  – think sharing plates and proper pub food with punchy flavours and a no-nonsense approach to get the best out of native ingredients. The Sunday roast is next level – we still think about the moreish gravy  – served alongside seasonal cocktails, local beers, gins, and wines by the glass or bottle. Dogs are fussed over by the friendly staff who are more than happy to grab a blanket and treats to keep them happy.

Doggie room rate

Two well-behaved dogs are welcome and each dog is charged at £60 per week or part thereof.

What Partridge says

I was super waggy to arrive at The Fable  – a cosy cottage surrounded by nature sniffs with the prettiest garden to potter in; it’s a pawesome spot for us four-legs, with lots of little luxuries thrown in. With endless walking routes from the doorstep, and sandy beaches to explore just a stick’s throw away, it tops my list of dog-friendly destinations in the Cornish countryside.
