Harbour House – Flushing

Introduction

Harbour House, Flushing

A trip on the foot-ferry over to Harbour House, Flushing with your dog in tow is an absolute must, taking just 15-minutes to cross the estuary from Falmouth. Flushing is an absolute haven, and an almost untouched fishing village with lots of delightful character.

This fabulous, sustainably-driven, dog friendly Cornish pub is set on the waterfront with acclaimed chef – and ever-rising star on the foodie scene – Andrew Tuck at the helm.

Gorgeous, laidback interiors offer the perfect backdrop to enjoy well-balanced dishes that showcase some of the freshest seasonal Cornish produce – think lots of exposed brickwork, large open fireplaces, and an open-kitchen to watch the chefs in action. Bag yourself a table by the window – or in summer, sit out front – and take in dreamiest harbourside views.

Dine with your dog

Dogs are welcome in all areas of the large open-plan restaurant and bar, where your pup will be treated with a water bowl and treats.

On the menu

Andrew is known for his love of open-fire cooking techniques and innovative flavour combos. We tucked into delicious plates with some playful twists – think beef tartare and pickled chilli with crusty sourdough made onsite, followed by monkfish, nduja and capers, smoked brassicas and ricotta ravioli with brown butter and pesto – keeping it sweet, we finished up with outrageously moreish sea-salted chocolate delice.

The Harbour House serves breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as an all-day bar menu with small plate and bar snacks. All focus on showcasing the freshest of produce from the surrounding sea, rivers, fields and gardens alongside beers from local breweries such as Verdant, Treens, Padstow and Lacuna and a selection of well-curated wines, locally distilled spirits and Cornish ciders.

Where to walk

Head left from the entrance to Harbour House, and follow the road all the way through the pretty village to Flushing beach, the cutest spot for a blast of fresh air and a leg stretch for your pup. With its dreamy views across the Penryn river to Falmouth, it’s a great little stretch of sheltered sand to sit and enjoy, with a few rocks for your dog to have a ramble on, before a game of sticks and a paddle in the sea.

What Partridge says

I loved my visit to Harbour House and felt very comfortable sat by a roaring log fire. It’s a super relaxed spot, serving acclaimed dishes that were very tempting on the nose! I received a friendly welcome and was fussed over by the team who brought me a water bowl and plenty of tasty treats.

My humans were overjoyed to feast on lots of fresh plates of local produce and I was lucky enough to trial the monkfish dish which was something to wag about. My paws are firmly crossed we can visit again soon.
