The Old Coastguard is a delightful and seaside Inn – celebrating all things coastal, it is home to 14 dog-friendly rooms, many with staggering views out to sea. The quirky inn is nestled in the charming fishing village of Mousehole, with views across the Atlantic to St Michael’s Mount and The Lizard with a large sloping garden, to the harbour wall.
An ideal base in West Penwith, one of the few Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty sites in the UK, protected against over development, retaining the feel of an ancient harbour, still operating today.
Dogs are allowed in the bars, as well as outside in the gardens, allowing you to dine with your canine pal. When guests arrive they will find biscuits, a blanket, a towel and a dog bowl in the room.
Walk south along the Coastal Path to Lamorna, about a two hour round trip. There are seasonal dog restrictions at Lamorna Cove, but out of season, it offers the perfect setting to stop for refreshments.
During the evening, take a walk along the seafront, right down to Newlyn. It is worth noting that there are no dogs allowed in Mousehole Harbour.
The bar area offers ample seating, serving old-world wines and exceptional food, sourced within the region.
Enjoy seasonal plates with your mutt at your side, with an ethos built on the maxim that the best things are kept simple. The traditional brasserie menu draws from the finest ingredients of the region, cooked simply with a classic treatment.
