The Hayloft – Watergate Bay

Introduction

Sink into comfort in this dreamy space with your canine pal at your side. The Hayloft offers the ultimate spot to hunker down just a few minutes drive from the two-mile stretch of golden sand. This beautiful stone barn-conversion is tucked away within the working farmlands, offering the perfect space to unwind with an open-plan living area, log-burning stove and stunning views across expansive green fields that back Watergate Bay – the ultimate setting for a restorative getaway in North Cornwall.

The property has been designed to perfectly compliment the surrounding landscape, with the traditional stone exterior giving way to a sleek and contemporary internal space, featuring pitched double-volume ceilings and unique angles, with wooden flooring and exposed timber-trusses that contrast with the bright white colour scheme, creating a light-filled space. Outside there’s a sun-drenched terrace complete with furniture and bench seating, along with a covered space designed to store you and your furball’s beach gear.

Dogs have the freedom to potter outside as well as lots of space to relax inside.

Our stay at The Hayloft was booked through Luxury Coastal holidays.

Where to walk

Far-reaching views and vast skies beckon outdoor-living, with an array of exhilarating walks right on your doorstep. Dogs are welcome at Watergate all year-round with two-miles of sweeping sand to run and play on, its one of our favourite stretches, backed by striking rock formations and intriguing caves. The north Cornish coast is peppered with sandy beaches and coves ready for exploring, we particularly enjoy the coastal walk from Mawgan Porth beach to Bedruthen Steps, the rugged-path stretching around the headland to Pentire Head. Other dog-friendly beaches on the North Cornwall coastline, include; Mawgan Porth, Porthkidney Beach, Mother Ivey’s Bay and Prussia Cove beach.

Dine with your dog

In the midst of a foodie haven, there are limitless options for dining out. We love both The Beach Hut and The Living Space at Watergate, both are super dog-friendly and offer quality
local produce in a laidback environment with dreamy sea views; each restaurant at Watergate is different with a menu option created to give you choice without leaving the bay.

The Beach Hut at Watergate Bay - Breakfast

Further afield, but worth the 40-minute drive is the Paul Ainsworth’s Mariners pub at Rock, serving carefully sourced, quality Cornish produce. Canine companions are welcome to join you on the ground floor of the pub, as well as on the terrace and balcony. We can highly recommend Paul’s Sunday roast as well as the fresh catch-of-the-day.

Doggie room rate

What Partridge says

The Hayloft offers the pawfect spot for us four-legs, with ample space to settle in, as well as a generous private outdoor area to enjoy.

Great for hunkering down in front of the log burner, and for getting out and about exploring the north Cornish coast. Watergate Bay will is, and always will be, my favourite beach, offering a sandy playground for me to run-free and meet fellow four-legged friends.
