The Gurnards Head – Zennor

Introduction

The Gurnard’s Head

A former coaching Inn, dating back to the 1800’s, The Gurnard’s Head is now a handsome building as well as a striking landmark, set amidst a dramatic backdrop of countryside and coast.

There are seven dog-friendly rooms to choose from, allowing both you and you four-legged pal to enjoy the beautiful and rugged stretch of coastline in West Cornwall. Sink into comfortable surrounds and enjoy a fresh seasonal menu with your mutt at your side, in the midst of the exposed Penwith Moorland.

Dogs are allowed throughout the bar area and on arrival, guests will find biscuits, a towel, dog bowl and blanket laid out for them.

Where to walk

The Gurnard’s Head is based at the halfway point of the South West Coastal Path, between Land’s End and St Ives – both of which take about four hours, offering wonderful views along the way.

Previously the centre of the Tin Mining world, the landscape is still dotted with Mine Stacks, providing unique walks right on the doorstep. For a shorter stretch, head to the point of the Gurnard’s Head or take one of the lovely circular walks in the village to Porthmeor.

Dine with your dog

Dogs are welcome to join you for supper in the bar area, where they will be provided with a water bowl next to your table, happy to take in the smells of the quality cuisine, inspired by the seasons.

For humans, plates are kept simple with the short, fresh menu changing daily. Vibrant dishes include Turbot, cauliflower, apple and sultana curry, cod asparagus, dill and cucumber butter and pork belly, black pudding, mash and rhubarb.
